How can I prevent pests naturally?

For most rodents and insects, the absolute best thing you can do is control access to food. All pests naturally need 3 things: water, shelter, and food. Oftentimes, it can be impossible to control their access to water and shelter, which leaves you with only food. Several sources of food for pests are often overlooked as they are not food for us. Make sure to control pet food, bird seed, and dog poop in particular. You should make sure to clean up any food debris, particularly in and underneath the oven, and make sure that no stored food or trash is accessible - ideally sealing them in metal, glass or heavy-duty plastic containers.
